Opening Times

Open 6 days a week, Tuesday through Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays.

Open 6 days a week, Tuesday through Sunday.

Closed Mondays, 24–26 December, and 1 January.

Conference Room Hire

BDAC also offers a large, fully equipped conference / meeting room that can seat up to 100 people. It is ideal for talks, meetings, training sessions, and group events.

Accessibility Information

We aim to make the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection as welcoming to as many visitors as possible. Our volunteers are always happy to assist where needed.

Level access to the Collection can be provided via the hangar doors on request.

Please note that disabled toilet facilities are currently unavailable, and cockpit access may be limited due to aircraft structure and safety requirements.

Some exhibits include audio descriptions accessible via smartphone or tablet, helping partially sighted visitors experience the collection more fully.

Hangar access can be provided on request, allowing step-free entry into the main exhibition areas.

Getting Around The Collection

The Collection is housed in large hangars with mostly level flooring. Some areas may have narrower walkways or uneven surfaces, so please take care when moving between exhibits.

Our friendly volunteer team are available throughout the Collection to assist visitors and help make your visit as enjoyable as possible.

Historic Aircraft Access

Due to aircraft design and preservation requirements, cockpit access may be limited in some areas.

We continue working to improve accessibility wherever possible while preserving historic aircraft safely.

Visitor Information & Guidelines

Parking

Cars may be parked on the south side of the hangar – visitor parking bays are signposted. When full, please use the grass area opposite.

Arriving

Please enter through the main Museum entrance on the airfield side of the hangars, opposite the control tower. If you prefer a quieter visit, you may wish to check our busiest and quietest times on Google before arriving.

Inside the Collection

Our aircraft are displayed in large, spacious hangars, providing a comfortable environment to explore aviation history.

Flight Simulators

Selected flight simulators may be available during your visit when volunteer guides are present to assist and operate them.

Aircraft Cockpit Access

Many aircraft cockpits are open and available for visitor access. Volunteer guides are always on hand to answer questions and illuminate the flying experience.

Corridors & Walkways

Some corridors are narrow. Please check they are clear before entering to ensure comfortable access for all visitors.

Re-Entry During Your Visit

Visitors are welcome to leave and re-enter the Collection during the day. Simply inform the shop staff before exiting.

Food and Drink

While there is no indoor picnic area, visitors are welcome to picnic on the grass outside (weather permitting). A mini-supermarket is located nearby, and cafés are available on the airfield. Our volunteers will be happy to direct you.
